An effective resume is built on various foundations! Please take the time to really understand and grasp what this page has to offer.

These guidelines and tips are meant to help you not only gain employment with CHRC, but also to aid you in understanding how important a strong resume truly is.

Your resume should be detailed enough to give an employer the information needed to assess your qualifications. At the same time, it should be concise. A busy employer wants the pertinent facts in as few words as possible.

The resume is a shorthand sketch, no longer than two pages, that should be a well organized summary of what you have to offer an employer. It introduces you to a prospective employer and after the interview, it becomes a reminder of who you are and what you have done.

Your resume should include all of the following:

  • Name (on all pages of your resume)
  • Address, City, State, Zip
  • Daytime Telephone or Message Number
  • Cell Phone Number (if applicable)

Employment History (maximum 10 years unless critical to the requirements)

  • Dates of Employment (include month and year)
  • Name of Current and/or Previous Employers
  • Address, City, State, Zip
  • Job Title
  • Brief Description of Job Duties
  • Explain Any Gaps in Employment

  • Name and Location of Institution
  • Diploma/Degree Acquired
  • Special Training or Certifications (if applicable)
  • Major Accomplishments (if applicable)

References (give the names of three professional references that are not related to you, whom you have known at least one year)

  • Name
  • Address, City, State, Zip
  • Telephone
  • Business
  • Years Acquainted
  • Type of Relationship

Other Helpful Tips:

  • No Personal Information (self portraits, family information, hobbies, etc.)
  • Avoid Cliche References Like “Jack of all Trades”.
  • A Two Page Limit Should Be in Place for your Resume. One is Even Better.
  • If Applicable, Indicate on your Resume if your Previous Positions were Contract/Temp Opportunities.

Sending Your Resume

CHRC prefers resumes to be submitted via E-Mail. This ensures the highest possible quality when submitting your resume to the employment opportunities. If this is not possible, feel free to send your resume via Fax, Postal Mail, or Hand Delivery to our office.

If you will be providing a paper copy of your resume to us, please consider that CHRC, along with many other companies, are currently scanning resumes into databases for easy retrieval. The following are a few tips to help in this process:

  • Use standard fonts, these are easily read by the scanner
  • If you fax a resume, follow it up with an original through the mail or E- Mail.
  • Keep it simple, avoiding graphics and pictures.
  • White or light color paper is easier to read and scans better.
